With a background in Fine Art and over 30 years of gardening experience, I create thoughtful garden designs inspired by both beauty and ecology. Each space is crafted to bring joy to its owner and life to the birds, pollinators, and wildlife that depend on it.

Based on our discussion and your answers to the questionnaire I will give you an estimate for design time. Designs usually run $1 per square foot.

Design cost includes a site analysis where I take measurements to map out your existing gardens to scale on paper. The second step is to get a sense of the flow and layout. We will review the newly proposed layout that might include paths and hardscape. This initial plan will also include larger trees and shrubs that define the space. After we establish a base map that feels agreeable, we can move into specific plant palettes and profiles. I will familiarize you with the plants and explain why they were chosen. If we don’t get it right the first time I allow for 1 revision within the initial quote.

It has been my experience that installation can run anywhere from $10-$50 per square foot. Site prep and hardscape can be the most costly part of a new garden. 

I can introduce you to contractors and craftspeople that can turn our design into a reality. I am happy to stay on and help with that process at an hourly rate of $55.

I am a designer and not a contractor. I can work with the contractors through installation of your new design ensuring that the process goes smoothly. My rate for this $55/hr.
